I now need some examples of other people?s Weather Display files to proceed with further testing. I will probably do that Thursday or Friday. I still have to do the user interface so that people can input the locations of their Weather Display files and the location where they want their converted files to be stored. I have written to asking if there is any way to work around this. That is, it stops when there are missing months. This should not be a problem for anyone who has continuous files going up to the time they switched over. It will not create data back farther than that even if the X_WeatherCatData.cat files exist. WeatherCat will create X_ files only back to August 2015. When I discard the months from July 2013 to July 2015 it creates a problem. Essentially I have had to discard the data downloaded from Weather Underground. For example, it shows the maximum rain day is Mawith 345.4 mm of rain. When I process this data I get some very weird results. However, this data does not have exactly the same format as regular Weather Display files. As I have done that, I downloaded the data. Weather Display has an option to download data from Weather Underground if you have been uploading data to that site. I lost data from July 2013 to July of 2015 because of a backup failure. One thing that caused a number of problems. I fixed this by manually editing the Weather Display file. The effect of this was to report the minimum pressure at my station was 0.0 mb. In another case 3 observations of Pressure were wrong in a three minute (observation) period. I manually removed the Nulls but will fix the program to automatically remove them before they are processed. In one case there were a number of Nulls in the Weather Display files (not many, three instances in two files out of a total of 107 files). It will display diagnostic information, as shown in the circled area above. Some of the data in my Weather Display files was bad. To access this information, quit WeatherCat and connect to the data logger with your web browser using the IP address you have assigned to it. Note that the WeatherlinkIP Configuration page can also be used to obtain additional diagnostic information if you are having communication issues with the data logger. You can now close the WeatherlinkIP Configuration tab in your browser and start WeatherCat. All other settings should not need to be changed. Do not use the IP address and other settings shown in the example above unless they are correct for your internal network. Enter the Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Server addresses as appropriate for your internal network. Enter the IP address you previously reserved in the router. Then check the option to Use the following IP Address. Once you see this page in your browser, uncheck the option to Obtain an IP Address Automatically. Type the IP address of the data logger identified by your scanner app into your browser and it will open up the WeatherlinkIP Configuration page similar to the one show below. WeatherCat cannot be running while you complete this step. They will identify Davis Instruments as the manufacturer and also give you the MAC address.įor the next step, you must shut down WeatherCat. These free apps scan your network and identify all of the IP addresses being used. You can also us an iOS app, such as Fing. This is done, using an IP scanner on your computer, such as LanScan. You need to discover the IP address it is using. When you first power up and connect the data logger via ethernet, it will automatically find an IP address, which will not be the address you reserved for it in your router. After the data logger is installed, power the console back up with its power cord and then install the batteries. If you have batteries in the console, remove them, then unplug the power cord. The data logger should never be installed (or removed) from the Davis Console unless the console has been completely powered down. The MAC address of the data logger is printed on its factory label. Before installing the data logger into the back of your Davis console, reserve an IP address for it on your router using its MAC address. It can be connected to an Apple Airport Express in the event that you do not have a wired ethernet port in the desired location for the placement of your console. The Davis WeatherLinkIP data logger should be run using a static IP address on your home network.
